Partnership & Program Information

Community resources for individuals with Parkinson’s Disease are available in Catawba County, offered through the Hickory Foundation YMCA, in partnership with Frye Regional Therapy Services. These classes are complimentary with your YMCA of Catawba Valley membership. Guests may accompany a member for class for a $10.00 fee. Community Guests may participate in a class for $15.00.

Wednesday

Making Moves - 11:00 am

Gentle dance designed for individuals with PD for maintaining flexibility, as well as improving balance. Location: Studio A

Thursday

Functional Boxing - 11:00 am

Meditation in Motion. Benefits include increased energy, reduced stress, improved balance, and connection with breath. Location: Studio A

OTHER AVAILABLE RESOURCES:

Join our Community Support Group for all individuals with Parkinson’s Disease, in Catawba County and the surrounding area and their family & friends. Offered at the Hickory Foundation YMCA's C.O. Miller Teen Center. Come join, learn, and share while helping others.

Meeting the 1st or 2nd Sunday of every month from 3:30-5:00pm

This support group is complimentary through the support of the YMCA of Catawba Valley.

Fighting Parkinson's

Non-contact boxing to improve balance, quality of life, and develop relationships

This program takes place at Sally's YMCA in Denver

Program options:

Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:30 pm or 3 pm

Support Group held monthly for caregivers and boxers

*Assessment with a Coach is required for the program
