Meet Our Trainers
Leila Carroll
I’m thrilled to be part of the training team here and to share my passion for fitness with this amazing community. While sports like basketball and tennis introduced me to an active lifestyle early on, it wasn’t until high school that I truly fell in love with weight training—and later discovered my love for group fitness in my late 30s. I officially began my journey as a group fitness instructor and personal trainer at 40 and haven’t looked back since.
Over the past five years, I’ve earned a variety of certifications, including NASM Certified Personal Trainer, Corrective Exercise Specialist, and Nutrition Coach. I also hold certifications in TRX, Silver Sneakers, Spin, and group fitness, allowing me to create well-rounded and inclusive training experiences for every fitness level.
Outside of the gym, I’m a licensed optician here in North Carolina—but fitness is my true passion. I’m excited to be a part of your journey and can’t wait to help you reach your goals one workout at a time!
Tori Kenney
Hi, I'm Tori! I am excited to introduce myself as one of the trainers here at Phifer Family YMCA, bringing a background in fitness and a passion for helping others achieve their health goals. I am ISSA certified and have spent over two years as a trainer—and later a lead trainer—at Burn Boot Camp, helping to motivate clients and delivering results.
With over two years of functional fitness experience, my passion is being able to blend functional training, strength work, and high-intensity conditioning to create customized programs that challenge and empower clients. Whether working with beginners or seasoned athletes, emphasizing form, consistency, and mindset as keys to long-term success.
Outside the gym, I enjoy staying active through golf and hiking, and value time spent with my dog and family. Most of all, I look forward to being a part of every fitness journey and getting to know each person that comes through the door!
