Twirl, Leap & Shine with Dance at the Y!


Got a little one who loves to dance around the house, spin in circles, and move to the music? Our YMCA Dance program is the perfect place for them to express themselves, build confidence, and have tons of fun!

Through ballet and jazz, kids will explore movement, rhythm, coordination, and creativity in a supportive and encouraging environment. Whether they’re learning their first ballet position or practicing fun jazz combinations, our caring instructors help every child feel confident and successful along the way.

At the Y, we believe in helping kids grow in spirit, mind, and body, and dance gives them the opportunity to move, create, and shine both on and off the dance floor.

Preschool class (ages 3-4 years)

  • Ballet and tap
  • Required Dance Attire:
    • Girls: Solid pink leotard, pink tights and pink ballet shoes. Pink skirt is optional. Tight bun/ponytail
    • Boys: White t-shirt, black shorts or pants, black ballet shoes
       
Primary class (ages 5-6 years)
  • Ballet, jazz and tap
  • Required Dance Attire:
    • Girls: Solid black leotard, pink tights and pink ballet shoes. Black skirt is optional. Tight bun/ponytail
    • Boys: White t-shirt, black shorts or pants, black ballet shoes

School Age class (Ages 7-9 years)

  • One class of the week will be dedicated to hip-hop and jazz
  • The other class will be ballet and tap
  • Required Dance Attire:
    • Girls: Solid black leotard, pink tights and pink ballet shoes. Black skirt is optional. Tight bun/ponytail

    • Boys: White t-shirt, black shorts or pants, black ballet shoes

       

General Information
  • Classes are offered at the Sally's and Lincoln County Branches
  • Classes will be two days a week for all ages

  • LINCOLN- Mondays & Wednesdays
    Preschool Class: 3:45-4:30pm
    Primary Class: 4:30-5:30pm
    School Age Class: 5:30-6:30pm

  • SALLY’S- Tuesdays & Thursdays
    Preschool Class: 4:00-4:45pm
    Primary Class: 4:45-5:45pm
    School Age Class: 5:45-6:45pm

  • Add-on practices will be on Saturdays closer to the recital date (the instructor will be in touch if this is needed)
  • Classes last for 10-11 weeks with a recital at the end of the session. All recital dates on the calendar are tentative and subject to change!
  • There is an added price for costumes for the recital which will be determined by the dance instructor.
