Leader In Me LC

LOCAL LINCOLN COUNTY SCHOOL GIVES BACK TO THE COMMUNITY

(APRIL 2025) - Students at Battleground Elementary School are making a remarkable impact in their community through their participation in the Leader In Me program. Demonstrating leadership, generosity, and commitment to service, the students successfully raised over $13,000 to support the Lincoln County Family YMCA.

The funds these individuals raised will be used to provide opportunities for children in their community, ensuring others can participate in summer camp, swimming lessons, and other YMCA programs. These programs promote healthy living and youth development in our area which is vital for community growth.

One student said, “What I’ve learned is public speaking. At my old school, I didn’t really know public speaking.” Another student said, “When I was little, I always wanted to help the county in some way. This gave me the opportunity to help a YMCA in the county.”

The Leader In Me program at Battleground Elementary is designed to instill leadership skills, personal responsibility, and a mindset of service among students. Through this initiative, students organized and led fundraising efforts, rallying support from families, teachers, and the local community.

“On behalf of the Y,” said Lance Friday, Associate Executive Director at Lincoln County Family YMCA, “I thank you for your leadership and efforts. It shows that you are the next and upcoming leaders in our community.”

This initiative highlights the power of student leadership and the importance of giving back. The Lincoln County Family YMCA extends a big thank you to the staff at Battleground Elementary School in their efforts to nurture responsible, community-minded individuals who take action to help others.
