What makes the Y Different

Since our inception, the YMCA of Catawba Valley has been guided by its Christian mission and values to strengthen the foundations of our community and nurture the potential of those men, women and children who make up the diverse and culture rich environment our wonderful community is built upon. As a leading nonprofit dedicated to meeting community needs, we engage people across several counties, giving more than 200,000 of our neighbors and children the chance to learn, grow and thrive in a welcoming atmosphere.

The Y offers more than just fitness programs, a fitness center, or a pool. The Y is so much more and it offers so much. It offers fitness for all ages and financial assistance for fitness programs. The beauty of the Y is that it offers opportunities for all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. We truly are an organization that serves the community from cradle to grave. The fitness programs we offer start as young as 10 years old and go all the way through senior programs. For kids, we offer kids fit which teaches children how to use the equipment in the fitness center in a safe way and all allows for children to progress to different parts of the facility as they get older. We encourage families to come together and workout together so habits can be formed at a young age. The YMCA of Catawba Valley really values that fitness for all ages is about having multiple age groups represented in every area of our Y. From the pool, to the fitness center, to the group classes, it is great to see so many different ages, abilities, and backgrounds represented at the Y.

Most people may not realize but the YMCA of Catawba County is a non-profit designed to meet the needs of the community. One way the Y meets the community need is offering financial assistance for fitness programs. Financial assistance is available for those in need our services in the community but cannot afford it. Each year the Y gives out more than $500,000 in financial assistance for fitness programs to the community. It is part of the Y mission to serve all regardless of ages, ethnicity, socioeconomic background, or any other factors.

Our Mission is clear: To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
