What do they do?
The YMCA Black Achievers Program begins with a one day orientation workshop during which students register and are introduced to the activities and guidelines of the program. Youth have the opportunity to take company tours and participate in training and counseling sessions. Other activities include self-esteem workshops, black history showcase, SAT preparation workshop, career clusters, college tours, recreational activities, youth banquet and oratorical contest.
Youth in the YMCA Black Achievers Program may enroll in the following career clusters: Arts, Communications, Engineering, Health/Medical, Law, Military, Business, Computers, Modeling and Law Enforcement
To enroll you must be in grades six through twelve. There is a program registration fee per student. A multiple student discount is given. There are no scholastic requirements to enroll. Enrollment is held in August and September.
