1When does summer camp start?

The start and end dates for camp varies depending on the type of camp that your child is registered for. Below you will find the start and end dates for all available camps:

2What is "Express Drop-off"?

Express drop-off is provided for your convenience at both the Hickory and Shuford locations. Each day you will drop your children off to our welcoming counselors and camp directors. This is not required, but an added feature for you to utilize in the morning to help streamline your busy day. The drop-off times are:

Hickory & Shuford Branches: 6:30am - 8:30am

3Is my child the right age for camp?

Our various summer camp programs offers a wonderful experience for kids and young adults of all ages. The table below gives you a detailed breakdown of the available camps and their accepted age ranges:

4How much does camp cost?

Our various camp programs are priced to be both competitive and affordable while allowing us to offer the best summer camp experience available in Catawba County. Use the table below to find the rates for your child's summer camp program

5What will my child do at camp?

Our summer camp programs are filled with various fun and educational activities for your child to enjoy. Some of these include weekly themes, swimming (and swimming lessons), field trips, character development, devotions, outdoor activities and arts and crafts. 6Does my child's education continue at camp?

Most definantly! With the Y Readers program, you'll child will continue to devleop their reading and cognitave skills while on summer break. For more information on the Y Readers program and how it will help your child grow, check out our Education page.

7How do I register my child for camp?

It's simple! Head over to our Camp Registration page and use the easy wizard to start the registration process.

8What sports are offered for sports camp?

Currently we offer two great sports options. Baseball Camp with the Rembert Brothers and Tennis Camp with Cy Smith

9How can I stay updated on camp?

There are several ways to stay updated with the YMCA Summer Camp program! Text messages, Facebook, our website and our new mobile app are just a few ways. Visit our Updates & Notification Center to get started.

10Where is camp held?

There are two conveniant locations in the Catawba Valley area. Our Hickory Branch serves the Hickory and surrounding areas (camp is hosted in the Teen Center) and the Shuford Branch serves the Conover and surrounding areas (camp is hosted in the community building).

11What should I do about food for my child at camp?

Snacks are provided to all campers for your convenience. You will however need to send a packed lunch with your child each day.

12What are "Weekly Themes"?

Our "Weekly Themes" are a fun tool we use to keep your child engaged and entertained while at summer camp. Each week we pick a fun and educational topic for your child to enjoy and center the weekly activities around it. For details on the themes we have created, check out our Weekly Themes page.
