YMCA Fall Sports

As school is about to begin it is time to think about extra curricular activities for the children.  The Y has just what you need this fall with YMCA fall sports.  YMCA fall sports are all about getting kids to learn the value of hard work, teamwork, sportsmanship, making friends, and having fun.  This fall the Y is offering youth soccer for ages 3 – 18 and youth flag football for ages 5 – 12.  These sports are a great way for children to make new friends and stay active.  Just as you want your children to mentally sharp at school is it very important that they stay physically healthy as well.  One way to to do that is through active play.  Active play is using games or sports in order to get kids moving without them even realizing they are getting a workout.  With Y sports the children are focused on skill development and learning the game then playing the game.  This league is for those looking to learn the game and not those just looking for a league that is all about winning.  At the Y, we make sure each child plays in every game.  This is vital to the children learning the game and enjoying the game as they progress.  We have our league separated by age and gender to be fair to all who participate.  This year the Adrian L. Shuford Jr. YMCA in Conover is offering a free soccer clinic for ages 3 – 15.  All you need to do is sign up at the Conover Y.  Each child will receive a t-shirt.  Remember the Y is open to all and wants every child to participate.  All you need to do  to sign up for the season is stop into your local YMCA branch in Conover or Hickory and we can sign you up on the spot.  Registration is open through August 16th.  Sign up today!
