There seems to be a new wellness program that comes out each and everyday. There are programs to help lose weight, or gain muscle, or target a specific area of the body. What about a specific group of people? There are classes for seniors, people looking for high intensity classes, and people looking for a fun active class like Zumba. At the Y, each wellness program has a specific audience and the Y is proud to announce that coming in 2016 we will be offering the LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA program.
The Y is a leader in the field of health and wellness and works with organizations to offer a wellness program that people can take advantage of in their local community. Y’s do this through working with local agencies to find out health issues and how the Y might be able to help. The YMCA of Catawba Valley works with its local hospitals and doctor’s offices to help engage people in a healthier lifestyle. It wasn’t long ago when people diagnosed with cancer were told not to exercise. Now a days the goal is to get them as active as possible through strength training and other forms of exercise. No matter where someone is in their fight against cancer the Y can help. That is why Y fought to get this get grant so we might better serve all in Catawba County who are fighting cancer. The LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA wellness program is a great opportunity to positive affect the lives of people fighting this awful disease.
