Pickleball is the new and upcoming most popular program for seniors at the Y. Pickleball is played on a badminton court using a perforated plastic ball, similar to a wiffleball. The game is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, game for experienced players.Try this increasingly popular sport that will provide you with a great workout while offering a very social and competitive game.
Regular participation in Pickleball can help you build muscular strength, improve joint mobility and increase cardiovascular endurance, leading to improved health and greater independence. “It’s low impact and is easier on the joints and that’s one advantage of it for our seniors,” said Coach Cy Smith. “Pickleball is also very addictive. Senior’s start playing one or two times a week and can’t wait to go back and play the next week!”
Pickleball will begin Thursday, September 10th at 10 am and then every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 10-11:30am. This senior program is free to members. Pickleball will be in the Y Gym on court A.
