Now is the time to start teaching your child the fundamentals of soccer. Our soccer program seeks to lay a foundation for parents to spend quality time with their children while learning how to properly teach and support them in sports, watch them have fun, learn new skills and meet new friends. Sports provide an opportunity to teach values like caring, honest, respect and responsibility. YMCA Youth Sports help young people by emphasizing skill development.

Every year millions of Americans are diagnosed with cancer. Cancer can effect anyone no matter your age, race, or fitness level. It is hard to find someone whose life has not been effected by cancer. You may not realize this but cancer is the leading cause of death in Catawba County.
The Valley Connection YMCA is excited to announce our January 23, 2016 Valley Y Open House. We encourage all of our members to come and bring a guest for FREE. There will be activities, a light breakfast served, give-away’s and so much more. Be sure to mark your calendar, so you don’t miss out on the fitness fun a the Valley Y Open House.
Each year, millions of Americans turn the calendar to the New Year and make resolutions. But without breaking these goals down into smaller milestones, it can be easy to lose momentum. In fact, a 2014 YMCA survey found that less than a quarter of respondents kept their resolutions throughout the year. Many (71 percent) tried, but stated that they fell short of their goals, while 40 percent confessed they gave up within the first few months, even weeks, of the New Year!
This year, the YMCA of Catawba Valley is encouraging community members to give their New Year’s resolutions a boost by creating smaller, more manageable goals that can lead to success of a larger one.
“Losing weight is too broad a goal,” explained Bob Conklin, President/CEO of the YMCA of Catawba Valley. “Reframe your big resolution into something achievable. For example, instead of making a resolution to ‘lose weight,’ resolve to incorporate fruits and vegetables into at least two meals a day.”
Our Adult Basketball League is designed to be an aid and tool in the development and growth of the participants. The YMCA is not a building, athletics field or just a gym; it is an association of people who use YMCA basketball to foster physical mental and spiritual growth. The attainment of exceptional athletic skills and the winning of games, though important, are secondary – the molding of men and women is the goal.
Ages The Adult Basketball League is for men and women who are at least 18 years old on Sunday, January 3rd, 2016.

It is that time of year once again, when everyone is excited to make a new year’s resolution. Each year many people make the same resolution as the year before because they did not keep the resolution from the previous year. In fact, only 8% of people ever actually keep their resolution and by the second week in February 80% of people have already given on their resolution. This year make a resolution you can stick with and let the Y help. 2016 is the year to make new year new you a priority.
