Bring a friend and kick off your New Year’s Resolution with a BANG at our New Year’s Day Fitness Extravaganza at the Hickory Foundation YMCA! We’ll have fun (and free) fitness classes all morning to get your resolutions in full gear. Have your friend join with you and they’ll get a free month off their membership! As a bonus: The first 50 members through the door on New Year’s Day will win a free YMCA t-shirt!

Our Fitness Extravaganza is the perfect way to start your 2016. Getting more exercise always tops the list of New Year’s resolutions. Unfortunately, many people don’t stick with their new fitness routines, thanks to classic excuses such as bad weather, fewer daylight hours and crowds at the gym.

You can make this year different and resist the many temptations that lead to empty gyms and idle sneakers come March. Commit to working out for the simple reason that exercise, in any form, can be the single most important thing you can do to be happier and healthier.


At the YMCA’s of Catawba Valley we offer all of our members the opportunity to meet weekly with our wellness coaches. These meetings are included in your membership and provide much more than just personal training.

When you enroll, you’ll meet one-on-one with a trained wellness professional. At your first meeting, your coach’s priority is to sit down and listen to your story. They learn about your health history and discuss your likes and dislikes.

Most importantly, they learn about your goals. Whether you’re just getting started or have exercised for years your personal goals become your coach’s primary focus.

You’ll meet with a coach once a week for six weeks. During this time, your coach will help you create a comprehensive wellness plan that will get you on track for meeting your goals. The Y is committed to your success, so you can re-enroll in the program as often as you need.
