The YMCA of Catawba Valley offers so many different kinds of fitness programs for all ages and abilities. For kids, we offer kids fit, which is a program designed to get kids learning how to use the fitness equipment in safe proper way. It is available to members at no cost once a child turns 10 years old. The goal of kids fit is to get kids moving to help fight childhood obesity. As the child gets older, the kids are able to use more and more of the fitness area.

Fitness Programs that we offer

Once the child is a teenager they can access our group exercise classes where they can work out doing all kinds of different routines. The group exercise fitness programs include classes like Zumba, kickboxing, power cuts, cardio 360, pilates, and yoga. In each of those classes participants have the opportunities to work out with friends and other members trying to achieve the same goals. Group exercise is a great way for people to stay motivated and connected while they workout. The Y also offers water fitness classes. These classes are helpful for people of all ages. They allow you to have less stress on your joints as you exercise. Silver sneakers is another program we offer. This program is designed for seniors in order to keep the seniors active and healthy. It focuses on range of motion and functional strength. The goal is for seniors to be able to continue doing the things that they always have been able to do like go up and down stairs and play with their grandkids. Fitness programs at the Y really are for all ages and abilities. We have a program ready and waiting for you. All you need to do is stop into your local Y and we can get you set up and achieving your goals.
