COACHING STAFF
Jon Jolley, Director of Competitive Swimming
Coach Jolley is in his 16th year with the YSST program. He began swimming competitively in 1973. He began coaching in 1987 with the Greenville Swim Club while attending East Carolina University. Jon joined the YSST staff in the fall of 1992 as Head Age Group Coach. Since becoming the Head Coach in June 1996, Jon has coached numerous YMCA National Qualifiers as well as 9 YMCA "All-American" performers. He has been a member of the North Carolina Swimming Select Team Staff and the North Carolina Swimming Board of Directors. He is currently the president of the Greater YMCA Sunbelt Swimming Association, and is a member of the YMCA of the USA Upper Southeast Regional Swimming Committee. Jon graduated from East Carolina University with degrees in Vocal Performance and Vocal Pedagogy.
Leila Martin, Assistant Coach
Coach Martin joined YSST in the fall of 2006. Leila began swimming competitively at age 5. She grew up swimming for North Mecklenburg Aquatic Club, Mecklenurg Aquatic Club, and New South Swimming. From 2002-2005, Leila swam for the varsity team of the University of North Carolina. Her experience, knowledge, and enthusiasm have made a major impact on the team. She is currently in graduate school at Lenoir-Rhyne in the occupational therapy program.
Marcie Young, Assistant Coach
Coach Young joined YSST in the summer of 2007. Marcie, a Salt Lake City native, swam competitively for a decade before heading to college at Utah State University, where she majored in journalism and studied in the Netherlands. Marcie completed her graduate work at Columbia University. She has been coaching for three years, and currently is a writer in Hickory.
