Capital Campaign

of future generations of the youth of Catawba Valley.

The YMCA has always been a safe-haven for families, children and teens.  And when you consider the alarming rise in the rates of obesity and delinquency among today’s youth, it’s easy to see the need for the YMCA’s mission of putting Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.  That’s why the YMCA of Catawba Valley is investing in new sports fields and facilities at two of its local branches to help our community.

In the “Unlock the Potential Campaign, the YMCA of Catawba Valley hopes to raise the funds necessary to make these significant improvements at both branches.  We hope you’ll follow the direction of C.O. Miller, Adrian L. Shuford, Jr. and Kathy Kim and help us make a meaningful difference in the future of our community.  Each improvement is vital to serving current and future generations of YMCA families.  We’d like to ask for our help to Unlock the Potential of children in our community.

The Hickory Foundation YMCA is planning to build new basketball and tennis courts, add a
climbing tower to the C.O. Miller Teen Center, and most importantly construct a new updated
bath house to support the center’s aging swimming facilities.  The Hickory Foundation YMCA Y’s bath house has not been substantially upgraded since it was first constructed in early 1950’s and the current structure is scheduled to be eliminated after fall of 2007.  The pool is one of the most important features at the Hickory Foundation Y and it cannot operate without this new bath house.

The Adrian L. Shuford, Jr. YMCA is seeking to resurface and light the branch’s playing fields as well as add a zero-depth children’s splash park and family pool.  These renovations will help attract more youth and families to the Shuford YMCA, where they’ll be able to enjoy its facilities and programs.
